2015 was again a busy festival year for the choir, starting off in February with a successful day at the Mrs Sunderland Festival in Huddersfield . Rodillians were delighted to win the overall Programme Class together with being overall winners of the Choir Challenge Centenary Baton. In March they then went on to be winners of the Choir Recital class at Rothwell Music Festival with a last minute stand in pianist, as regular pianist Emma Sey had to pull out due to illness. In April the choir were back at their favourite haunt at Eskdale Music Festival for Choirs in Whitby . The day started well with a first in both Christmas in April and Sacred classes, followed by 2 joint third places in Songs from the Shows and the Open Challenge class. Competition was very strong this year but a very enjoyable day out was had by all, including the fish and chips. To finish off this year’s festivals, Rodillian Singers once again attended the Penistone Music Festival in September winning the Ladies class for the fourth consecutive year and in addition coming third in the Open Class, being beaten with a win this year for our good friends Penistone Ladies. As 2014 started celebrations for the Rodillian Singers 50th Year it was decided only to compete at two festivals this year. It was felt that we couldn’t possibly miss Eskdale Festival at Whitby (or is it just the fish & chips we can’t miss!). The choir has been attending this festival for many years and on 12th April Rodillians did a repeat performance by winning all 3 classes entered with distinction marks. The choir were absolutely delighted with the days’ results and felt that this was a fantastic achievement, having put so much work into their 50th Year Celebration Concert only a few weeks before. Penistone festival was next on the 2014 festival calendar and on 27th September the choir were once again winners of both classes entered, gaining distinction marks for all 4 songs. In 2013 The Rothwell Music Festival should have been the first festival of the year for Rodillian Singers but unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions Saturday evening classes had to be cancelled. So Eskdale Festival at Whitby was the first of the season for 2013, where Rodillian Singers once again did a full sweep and won all of the classes they entered, including the £500 prize for the Choir Recital. This was once again a fantastic result beating our good friends and rivals York Philharmonic MVC, Skelmanthorpe MVC and Penistone Ladies (to name a few). 18th May brought around the Wharfedale Music Festival in Ilkley and Rodillians repeated their previous year’s success by once again winning the Female Voice class. After the short summer break Penistone Music Festival was the next on the 2013 agenda and once again the choir had an extremely successful evening winning both the Female Voice and Open Challenge classes. On 29th September 2012 The Rodillians successfully defended their titles at the Penistone Music Festival by winning both the Female Voice Choir and the Open Challenge Choral Classes. In March 2012 the Choir returned to the Skipton Festival after a 5 year absence to win the Ladies Choir section, a perfect start to the year! In April at the Eskdale Festival in Whitby the Rodillians were victorious in coming 1st in three out of the four classes that they had entered. These included the Ladies, the Sacred & the Choir Recital which had a £500 prize alongside the trophy. On the 19th May the choir came 1st in the Female Voice Choir Section at the Wharfedale Festival in Ilkley. What a fantastic end to an amazing festival year.In September of 2011 the Rodillians were successful in coming first in both the Female Voice Choir and Open Challenge Choral Classes at the Penistone Music Festival. In 2010 the Rodillian Singers won the Female Voice Section at Eskdale Festival and first prize in the Choral section at the Harrogate Music Festival. In 2008 the choir was awarded first prize in the choir programme class at the prestigious Mrs Sunderland Festival at Huddersfield Town Hall and the Jessie Jameson Centenary Baton for the best song of the day. In the same year the choir were also winners of the Choir Recital class at Eskdale Festival in Whitby.
